Artist Walkabout: Roelof Petrus Van Wyk

We’re excited to invite you to the first of a series of exhibition walkabouts at our gallery this weekend! Join Roelof Petrus Van Wyk as he takes us on a guided tour of his latest exhibition, Immemorial.

van Wyk is an artist, architect, curator, and researcher who, in this series of works, explores the hidden queer history in the Dutch colonial archives of Cape Town (1652 - 1795). Using digital photography and machine-learning platforms, he creates imaginative representations of queer individuals, revealing a history that has been overlooked and erased in favour of traditional settler colonial narratives.
