Witness  is a group show taking place at Gus Gallery in Stellenbosch, showcasing works by creatives Neeske Alexander, Jeandri Geldenhuys, Lila Huyzers, Stefan Schmid and Candice Olivia Böttcher.

 

Witness invites its viewers to look at the complexity in the act of witnessing, putting special emphasis on local incidents in and around Stellenbosch. Each creative takes an individual approach to deconstructing the act of witnessing, paying attention to issues such as rape, the bystander effect, distorted truth, voyeurism and family violence.

 

The viewers take on the role of the witness in this show, encouraging self reflection in understanding our active choices in aim of eliminating the bystander effect.
