On Thursday 3 August 2017 Gallery University Stellenbosch (GUS) was honoured to host an evening of inter-generational indigenous Xhosa music. The event was free and open for all.

“We see it as our priority to preserve the country’s indigenous music, knowledge and wisdom so as to continue to share it amongst each other and ultimately the rest of the world” Found at Sea

 

The event featured:

       · Performance by Madosini – the legendary artist shared her songs

       · Conversation – how Madosini’s music translates to the younger generation? Reintroducing indigenous Xhosa knowledge systems in contemporary urban spaces

       · Performance by Found at Sea - an adaption of the music learned from Madosini by young artists Qhawekazi Giyose (vocal & uHadi), Gugu Dumama (vocal & uHadi), Shakeel Curtis (double Bass) and Tariq Bletcher (Flute)
